Jerry Glaze - PhotoJerry Lee Glaze, 71, died July 29, 2015 at his home in Benton. Jerry was born in Springhill on Oct. 12, 1943, to the late John Earl Glaze and Mildred S. Glaze. Jerry attended High School in Minden and graduated with a degree in forestry from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. During his sophomore year at Louisiana Tech, he met Gwen Maroney whom he married in 1963. They have shared 52 years of love and devotion.

After graduating from Louisiana Tech in 1966, he became a Forester for International Paper Company until 1983, at which time he started his own consulting business, Glaze Forestry. He continued to consult and manage property until his death on Wednesday. Jerry also enjoyed raising and showing World Champion Missouri Fox Trotters and was co-owner of Pasta Jacks Restaurant in Benton. If Jerry was not working, he was sharing family time with his loved ones. Jerry loved his church family at First Baptist Church where he was a member for over 35 years.

In addition to his father, John Earl Glaze, he is preceded in death by his brother, John Wayne Glaze.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Gwen Glaze; son, Scott Glaze (Courtney); daughter, Debbi Ballard (Steve); mother, Mildred S. Glaze; four grandchildren, Parker and Kennedy Glaze and Anna and Harrison Ballard, all of Benton.

Visitation was from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at First Baptist Church – Selph Hall. Celebration of life was at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Grant officiating. Pallbearers were Dave French, Leonard Towell, Brian Smith, Harrison Ballard, Steven McElroy and John Bearden.

Memorials may be made to a ministry of your choice at First Baptist Church.

Services were provided by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton.
