Joe LeBlanc Food Pantry reports strong Thanksgiving turnout, eyes Christmas goal

The Joe LeBlanc Food Pantry completed its Thanksgiving distribution last weekend, providing turkeys and holiday bags to every household that came through the line, according to pantry director Jessica Lewis. She said the event “went amazing,” with more than enough volunteers on site in addition to the pantry’s regular monthly food distribution.

The pantry, which has served food-insecure households in Webster Parish since 2007, is now focused on its Christmas program. As of Wednesday, Lewis said 370 of the 600 families needed for sponsorships have been covered. The Christmas distribution is scheduled for December 20. Volunteer shifts for that morning will be posted on Signup.com, and the link is available HERE.

Kid’s Night is also returning this season for the first time since 2019. The event is set for December 18, with only 13 spots remaining out of 50, Lewis said.

In recent updates, the pantry urged volunteers to begin using Signup.com to fill open positions for upcoming events. Organizers said the system is intended to streamline volunteer coordination and make it easier for supporters to see where help is needed.
