Funeral services for Mr. John Parker will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Minden.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 at Benevolent Funeral Home located at 401 East Union. Interment will be at Pringer Place Cemetery in Minden. Pastor Allen M. Jackson will be officiating.

Brother John “Johnny” Parker was born to the late Marshall Parker Sr. and Emma Shepherd Parker of Dubberly on Nov. 13, 1951. He received his formal education from Southside High School in Ringgold, graduating with the class of 1970.

Bro. Parker accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Dubberly. He shared his love for Christ by his devotion to his family and charity to others. Bro. Parker had many unique talents and abilities; known for being a car mechanic. He was renowned for his “gift of gab” and comical personality. He was outgoing and never met a stranger. Furthermore, he exercised his Christian faith through fellowship with the Pleasant Grove BC.

On Sept. 22, 1973, he united in holy matrimony to Linda Weatherton. To this union four children were born. Their earthly union continued until Linda made her holy transition on June 3, 2013.

On Aug. 10, 2015, God dispatched heavenly angels and granted Holy Independence and Eternal Rest to His faithful servant. He was preceded in death by; his parents, loving wife, siblings Vera Parker Hicks, Marshall Parker Jr., Roger Parker, Wanda Parker Coleman and an infant son, John Parker Jr.

Left to cherish his precious memories; three loving children LaRhonda “Michelle” Parker-Coleman, Minden, Derrick Parker (Tiwanna), Bossier City, Melissa Parker (Arthur), Sibley, three sisters in-law Louise Weatherton, Oakland, CA, Barbara Markray Parker, Minden, and Marvis Ward Parker, Haynesville; one brother in-law Leroy Hicks, Shreveport, three granddaughters, Charmonie, Demeshia, and Lanisha Parker, Minden, two great grandchildren Cyden Amon and Gracelyn Noelle Parker, Minden; special nephew Andrew Jerome Parker (Christina), Bossier City and special niece LaRhonda Cosby Ivory (Ray), Gibsland, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
