KAREN’S KORNER: A matter of time

by Minden Press-Herald

KAREN’S KORNER

Have you ever thought about time and how important it is? It is one of those occurrences, that takes on different characteristics depending on the situation or circumstances. It is relative.

For example, if you have had a medical diagnostic report that you are awaiting, it takes forever for the results to come back, or if you are waiting for a loved one to return from a prolonged absence, the minutes become as hours as you patiently long to see the friendly smile and feel the familiar touch.

Time flies, when you are having fun, or experiencing life in a unique or special way. There are good times, bad times, fun times and sad times. We make time or waste time. We lose time or try and make up time.

I was on a flight last year, and the pilot was apologizing for being delayed on the runway; but, “not to worry, he said, we will land on time because of the tail-winds and the clear skies,” and true to form, we made up the lost time.

We use time as a barometer of life. His existence is only a matter of time….in a matter of time, she will forget, and it will be better. Time heals all, time destroys all; in time, it will make all the difference, or it will make no difference.

There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, and 168 hours in a week, 52 weeks in a year, etc. And, strangely enough, we all have the same 60 seconds, 60 minutes, 24 hours, 168 hours, and 52 weeks – we just spend them in different ways.

Sometimes, we run out of time, build extra time in, find time or don’t have enough time to complete the task. We control our time and at times, it controls us. Time out, time in, down time. It is time, it isn’t time, what time is it?

What we do with time depends on us totally. We are only allotted a certain number of days and weeks or years on this earth when we are placed here, and what we do with that time is up to us. There will be an appointed time for us to vacate the premises, and that will be time up.

What are you going to do with your moments of time? Some of you are deciding right now; for some it takes time to decide.  Just don’t forget time. It can be your friend or your foe, it is up to you!

Why not take some time and come and see us at the Webster Parish Council on Aging. We would love to see you. For questions, call 318-371-3056.
