Karen’s Korner: Loss is devastating

by Minden Press-Herald

Karen’s Korner

Loss is devastating… we never know from one day to the next what is going to happen in our lives. We are often caught off guard, or surprised by the events that can occur at any time. So often, we become complacent and even lethargic because we get lulled into believing that each day is going to be like the last one, until something happens and takes us to our knees in disbelief, or shakes us and awakens us to reality,

What is that all about? Do we just get lost in our journey? Do we just get bogged down in everyday tasks? Do we give in to the mundane? Is there nothing new to engage our minds in positive thoughts?

Goodness gracious! We definitely need to wake up! We need to start living life every day…what a gift life is!

When God created the existence of the earth, He said it was “Good!” When He created the beauty that surrounds us, He said, it was “Good!” When He created man, He created us in His image, and He said, It was “Good!”

We have so much to be thankful for, if you don’t believe me, just start to count your blessings. We all have something for which to be thankful!

I am so very thankful for the “love” I receive and have for so many. There is a quote I read the other day:

“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”

In the Word, 1 John 4:12: tells us, “NO one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

Our lives are full because of all the good things we have and experience because of love. It sure does make life worth living.

Come see us at the Webster Parish Council on Aging and experience some fun, fellowship, and love. Can’t go wrong with that…
