Karen’s Korner: Positive attitude

by Minden Press-Herald

Karen’s Korner

I have a great friend who has a very positive approach to the aging process. She says that it’s all about a positive attitude.

When she looks in the mirror each morning, she states that, “it’s still me and there is not one thing I can do about it.”

She always tells me that as long as the Lord sees fit, she will rise and shine, well, she says, “the shine might not be quite as bright as it once was, but never-the-less she will rise, or give it her best.”

I ordered a little book the other day entitled, “God Bless My Senior Moments.” It has a “real” approach to this aging phenomenon!

“Today. Lord, I had another senior moment. However, my memory’s not too good these days, so I have already forgotten what it was.”

Here’s one of my favorites, “I enjoyed being asked if I am a senior at the store today. I said yes, with confidence, and took joy in receiving a 10 percent discount on my purchases! Lord, thank you for showing me another positive aspect of me being older.”

Here’s one that could apply here at the Council on Aging.  “I lost at bingo today, but I won a new friend at the senior center. I still count the day as a blessing even though I hate to lose a competition.”

I guess it is all about attitude. Have a great day.
