Karen’s Korner: Prayers to our Texas neighbors

by Minden Press-Herald

Karen’s Korner,

Our hearts and prayers go out to our Texas neighbors as they continue to deal with the horrible floods and the tragic events that are unfolding each day since July 4, 2025. So many have lost loved ones and there are so many still missing at this time. We are not promised tomorrow, so we need to love and live each and every minute we have in this moment.

As a Senior, I have come to appreciate every situation, every opportunity, and every blessing that I have received during my lifetime, and I certainly don’t take that for granted.

As I was reading  an article the other day, it stated that: Life expectancy varies widely based on factors such as genetics, lifestyle, and health conditions. On average, in developed countries, life expectancy is around 78-82 years.”

When I was a child, 70 seemed very, very, old; now, it doesn’t quite seem so old. “They,” whoever they are, say that 70 is the new 50. I don’t know about that, but I do know that there are some factors that can determine how old we may actually become.

Staying physically fit, going to the physician on a regular basis, staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet, staying alert and exercising, not just our bodies, but our minds as well, help to prolong our lives

But, all in all, none of us know our own longevity, we just want to live the best life possible. After all, our Creator knows, and for me…that’s just fine, because He knows what is best for each of us.

Live long, and love it……
