Keith Beard sent a letter of resignation to Mayor Terry Gardner announcing his resignation from the Minden City Council starting Sept. 25. The letter in its entirety can be read below:
Dear Mayor Gardner,
Please accept my resignation from the Minden City Council effective Friday, September 25, 2020. I have been given the opportunity to move to Monroe with my two grandchildren and closer to my new grandchild coming in January. This decision has not been an easy one to make. After several months of prayer and consideration, I feel confident that this is the best move for me at this time in my life. I am grateful to you, Councilwoman Bloxom, and your assistant, Wanda Pittman, for your support, encouragement, and friendship. I am also grateful to the voters of District D for electing me to the position of city councilman. I am sorry that I wasn’t able to accomplish much over the past 21 months, but with the current make-up of the city council, it was close to impossible. To the good citizens of this beautiful city who wish to see it move forward and do even greater things, I encourage you to wake from your slumber and actively do something before it is too late. You don’t want to lose what you have.
Again, thank you for the opportunity to serve such a special community with special people. I will continue to pray for Minden and its leaders, and hope for its success.
Sincerely
Keith Beard
Minden City Councilman, District D
