Lady Knights’ season ends at Jena, 13-5

by Minden Press-Herald

JENA – The North Webster Lady Knights dream of a state championship ended Friday against No. 3 seed Jena.

The Lady Giants showed they were worthy of their high ranking, using a barage of hits and efficient defense to knock North Webster out of the Class 3A playoffs in a 13-5 decision.
“Jena was very good,” Lady Knights head coach Alyssa Ford said. “If we were going to beat them, we were going to have to match them at the plate and we couldn’t do that.”

The loss wraps up 15-13 season for North Webster, their first under Ford.

“It was a great experience,” Ford said. “I have a freshman pitcher and catcher, several younger girls coming back on this team. We’re losing three senior, Shay Smith, Jaslyn Winkler and Caitlyn Maples. They leave some big holes to fill, but they’re going to do great things away from North Webster.”

Brianna Murray had an RBI double for the Lady Knights, Lindsey O’Neal added an RBI single and Aubryn Rasberyy and Tiffani Winkler added RBIs.
