Lady Tiders, Doyline, Lakeside in action tonight

by Minden Press-Herald

High school basketball is heating up as everyone settles into district play. Most area teams still have a lot of work to do to position themselves for a playoff run.

Minden Lady Tiders:

Minden picked up a gritty win over Huntington on Tuesday, but the score wasn’t indicative of how close the game was.

Huntington slapped, clawed and pressed the entire game. They did their best to make Minden uncomfortable, and it worked for a while.

The Lady Tiders picked it up defensively and finally gained composure on offense.

Tonight should be an easy home win against North DeSoto (6-16). The Tiders beat the Lady Griffins 63-17 last time they played.

Doyline Panthers

The Panthers have a huge test tonight as they travel to #3 Weston for a tough district match.

Doyline sits at #5 in the state already, and a win tonight could catapult them into serious contention for a top-2 seed in the playoffs.

Lakeside Warriors

Lakeside is coming off of two big wins and travel to Green Oaks tonight for a non-district test.

The Warriors played some of their best basketball of the season in their 74-73 win over North Caddo last week and continued on Tuesday with a district win over D’Arbonne Woods Charter.

The Warriors still have a lot of work to do if they want to position themselves for a run in the playoffs. Currently, Lakeside is #27 in the 2A state power ratings.

Minden Crimson Tide

The Tide dropped a big one to Huntington on Tuesday night. Turnovers befell Minden  en route to a 60-50 district road loss, but a chance to turn it back around awaits them tonight.

The Tide have a very winnable game against North DeSoto at The Palace.

The Griffins are 2-16 this season and shouldn’t pose a threat to upset Minden on their home court.

The Tide should use this game as a way to get their rhythm back, eliminate turnovers and get ready to go on a winning streak to move them back into playoff contention.
