Lakeside drops road contest to Evangel, 9-5

by Minden Press-Herald

SHREVEPORT – At Evangel, the Lakeside Warriors fought hard but couldn’t overcome the firepower from the Eagles on their way to a 9-5 loss.

Lakeside fell behind early and had a tough time slowing down the Evangel attack. The Eagles scored five combined runs in the first and second inning while the Warriors had a tough time at the plate.
Josh Prince wasn’t having a tough day however, he went 3-4 with a pair of singles and a double to lead the Warriors. Brayden Jones and Colton Carter each had two singles and RBIs. Logan McIver had two hits also, followed by Jake Gray with a double and Tanner Page with a RBI.

Lakeside sent three different pitchers to the mound to try and limit the potent Evangel lineup.
Brayden Jones got the start and the loss, tossing two innings of 6-hit baseball and allowing five runs. He was followed by Josh Prince, going two innings, striking out two and allowing four hits. Tanner Page threw the final two innings for the Warriors, striking out two, walking two and allowing three hits.

Prince now boasts a .429 batting average, however as a team Lakeside is hitting .277.

Lakeside will look to bounce back in the Sterlington Tournament Thursday against a talented Oak Grove squad. That game gets underway at 4:30 p.m.
