CLINTON – The Lakeside Warriors hit the road for a first round playoff matchup with East Feliciana, the No. 4 seed in Class 2A.
The Warriors gave it their all but the home team was just too strong in this one, as Lakeside fell 46-20.
“It’s the first time that Lakeside’s had to travel out of our own little region for a playoff game in some time,” head coach Joey Pesses said. “I talked to the kids about embracing the moment and I think they did. East Feliciana was a little bigger and faster than we were.”
Pesses said things were emotional after the game, as the reality of the season ending loss set in.
“I started the season by talking to the guys about the legacy you leave behind,” Pesses said. “Our seniors this year followed in the footsteps of our seniors from last year. The record may not reflect what we wanted, but it speaks volumes about the character of our kids to see how they cared about one another this year. They bonded even more than they think.”
It was also the final game for 10 Lakeside seniors.
“I told the seniors how much I appreciated them,” Pesses said. “No matter what happened they came to work ready for the next Friday. I hope that the younger guys will now follow in these guy’s footsteps.”
