Lakeside Lady Warriors fall to Simsboro, 6-4

SIBLEY – The Lakeside Lady Warriors weren’t able to hold homefield Monday against the Simsboro Lady Tigers, falling to their visitors 12-10 in a thriller.

In a high-scoring affair, it was Simsboro who jumped out to a 5-2 lead after two innings. Lakeside answered back though, scoring one run in the third and another in the fourth.

That’s as close as Lakeside would get, as Simsboro added seven more runs. Despite a valiant effort in a six-run seventh inning, the Lady Warriors came away with the loss.

Madison Mouser went 4-4 with three singles and a double with two RBIs. Kendelle Williams (one RBI), Allie Maness (one double) and Ashley Nunn each had two hits for Lakeside, followed by Cecily Gurgainers with a double and three RBIs. Chelsea Mays and Kelly Willis each had singles for the Lady Warriors and Deidra Johsnon had two hits.

Laney Taylor took the loss in the circle for Lakeside.

The Lady Warriors (7-11) must rebound and be ready to take on St. Mary’s and the Lady Tigers Tuesday at home in a 4 p.m. contest.
