SIBLEY – The Lakeside Warriors have yet another tall task in front of them, as this week they travel to Campti to kickoff their district schedule against the Lakeview Gators.
“I thought the team came out with a different mindset this week in practice,” head coach Joey Pesses said. “I could see they are really focused in.”
Lakeview boasts the best athletes of any team in the district, with the exception of Calvary Baptist.
The second place team in district in 2014, the Gators have plenty of talent back.
“They have great athletes,” Pesses said. “I know they have a lot of speed and No. 18 for them is the real deal.”
Offensively, the Warriors will try to get things moving, as the Warriors haven’t scored a point in three weeks.
“We can’t afford to shoot ourselves in the foot,” Pesses said. “It’s been the same stuff each week, mental things that we have to correct. We have to be good on first down to put ourselves in second and short situations. We also need to hold onto the ball.”
Lakeside will go for the win in Campti, Friday at 7 p.m.
