SIBLEY – Any Lakeside fan will tell you the season didn’t start the way they had hoped it would. The Warriors (7-10) have struggled at times, however things are beginning to look up at the right time.
The Warriors defeated Jonesboro-Hodge Thursday on the road, 6-3. They followed that up with a 10-4 victory at home Saturday against the Northwood Falcons.
In the game against the Jonesboro Hodge Tigers, it was late-game heroics that sealed the win.
The two teams were tied 3-3 after seven innings. In the eighth, Josh Prince started the inning with a double, bringing up Jake Gray. With the game on the line, Gray got all of one, sending a shot to deep right-centerfield for a two-run home run that gave Lakeside the lead for good.
Gray also got the save on the mound, getting the final two outs in relief of Tanner Page who went seven, strong innings to get the win.
Against Northwood, Gray led the Warriors to victory again.
