Lakeside Wrestling team competing well

The Lakeside Warrior wrestling team dropped two matches this past Tuesday in the Haughton Duals and are now 6-4 in dual meets this season.

In the first meet, they lost to Airline 50-12; and in the second meet they fell to Parkway 41-27.
Lakeside wrestlers that performed well in the Haughton Duals were:

Lakeside freshman wrestler John Watson went 1-1 in the 126 pound weight class.
Watson lost to the 2014 regional champion Javarious Jones of Airline 12-5. He then defeated Mathew Pitts of Parkway by pin.

Pitts is ranked No. 1 in Division 2 in Louisiana.

Lakeside’s Logan McIver, also a freshman, went 1-1 in the 132 pound weight class.

McIver lost to Scott Prouty of Airline 16-1. Prouty is ranked fifth in the state in Division 1.
McIver defeated Toby Fontenot of Parkway 12-5.

Eighth Grader D.J. Harvey went 2-0 in the 285 pound weight class, where he is currently the top ranked wrestler in Louisiana.

Harvey made quick work of his first opponent, pinning Airline’s Jamarcus Gray in 55 seconds.

He then pinned Parkway’s Willie Johnson in 44 seconds.

Harvey is 12-2 this season as an eighth grader wrestling in varsity matches.
