Study Presenter: Calesa Leach from Jonesboro, Georgia

Calesa Nicole Leach was born in East Hartford, Connecticut, and raised in Columbus, MS. She is the oldest daughter of Rev. Geneva Hodges and the late John Hodges. She is also the daughter of John Leach. Calesa is a speech pathologist who enjoys rehabilitating the lives of older adults. However, she has an interest in Christian education, with a focus on ministry for children and adults.

She has provided ministry as Minister of Music throughout the states of Mississippi and Tennessee. She is a member of Bates Chapel CME Church located in Coldwater, MS.  Currently a resident of Georgia, Calesa serves as a musician and Sunday School teacher at College Park CME Church, in Atlanta.

In the Spring of 2018, Calesa received a Master of Arts in Christian Education from the Interdenominational Theological Center, Phillips School of Theology. She is presently attending Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, where she is earning a doctoral degree in Educational Ministry.

Calesa is a firm believer in the power of prayer. Her God-given gift to pray for others led her to start “Calesa and Others” prayer ministry, which has been in existence for the last nine years. A few years ago, she was given the vision to write a book of children’s prayers. This book is entitled “Dear Mister Jesus” which teaches children how to develop a prayer life using real-life experiences that children may encounter.

Calesa enjoys listening to wise sayings and stories told by older adults and playing hymns on the piano.
