Deacon Leon Jackson, Sr. was born August 6, 1926 in Colfax, Louisiana to the late Sam and Rosie Jackson. God called him home to spend eternity in His presence on Friday, July 12, 2019 at approximately 5:45 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents; Brothers: Lafayette Jackson, Sam Jackson, Jr., Lamar Jackson, Joseph Jackson and James Jackson; and one sister, Eula Harris.

Deacon Leon accepted Christ at an early age, joining Mount Comfort Baptist Church. He later joined Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a faithful Deacon until God called him home.

On December 23, 1960, Deacon Leon was united in holy matrimony to Kathleen Mims. To this union, two children were born, Marie Jackson Combs and Leon Jackson, Jr. He married a second time and helped raise two step-children.

Deacon Leon also sung with the Golden Spirits, and the Spiritual Stars for over 20 years or more.

Deacon Leon worked and retired from the City of Minden with 30 years of service. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and helping anyone he could. 

Deacon Leon leaves to cherish his memory two children, Marie Combs (Terry) Minden, LA, and Leon Jackson, Jr. (Wendy) Minden, LA; two step-daughters, Linda James and Kathy Lincoln, both of Minden, LA; one step-son, Carey Eason, Sr. of Minden, LA; and two other step-sons from a previous marriage. Four grandchildren, fifteen step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
