Letter to Editor: Trump’s power grab, Aug. 12 Wall Street Journal

I suggest that all people abiding or visiting or thinking about going to Washington, D. C. carry a copy of  this Journal article in their purse or wallet or somewhere on their person. When they are about to be mugged, or their car stolen, or otherwise assailed, pull out the article and wave it at the assailant and say, “Crime is down, says the Wall Street Journal. You  can’t  mug me or steal my car because the paper says Washington authorities claim that crime has fallen since 2024.” That would make the likely-to -be assailed more secure than having Trump take over policing in Washington, D. C. because everybody knows that whatever Trump says or does is somehow wrong.
