Local media panel to offer tips for getting businesses in the news

by Amber McDown

The Greater Minden Chamber will continue its Breakfast with the Experts series October 13 with a panel discussion aimed at helping local businesses better understand how to work with area news media.

“How to Pitch Your Business to Local Media” will be held from 8-9 AM at the Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce, 110 Sibley Road. Networking will begin at 7:45 AM, and a hot breakfast and coffee will be provided.

The panel will include Amber McDown of the Minden Press-Herald, Mark Chreene of KASO/KBEF Radio, Bonnie Culverhouse of the Webster Parish Journal, and Lynn Vance of KTAL NBC 6.

During the one-hour session, panelists will discuss how businesses can recognize newsworthy developments in their everyday operations, including anniversaries, milestones, and unique donations. The program will also cover the basics of preparing effective press releases and strategies for pitching stories and building relationships with local print, digital, radio, and television outlets.

The session is part of the Chamber’s new monthly Breakfast with the Experts program. The theme for the fourth quarter is “Brand, Buzz, & Loyalty.”

Admission is $10 for Chamber members and $15 for “future members”. Space is limited, and advance reservations are encouraged.

The October 13 program follows the series’ inaugural session in September, when Erin “Bristol” Woods of Green Growth Group discussed artificial intelligence, online search, websites, and strategies businesses can use to strengthen their digital presence.
