The SAR Silver Good Citizenship Medal is awarded to individuals who demonstrate exemplary service to their state or region
BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) today awarded the prestigious Silver Good Citizenship Medal to Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley in recognition of his outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to improving education for the citizens of Louisiana.
The award was presented on April 30, 2026, by the President of the Louisiana Society SAR, joined by Jeff Truax, Secretary of the Louisiana Society; Derrick Spell, 2nd Vice President; and board members Joel Whitehead and Mitch Pratt.
The SAR Silver Good Citizenship Medal is awarded to individuals who demonstrate exemplary service to their state or region. Recipients are recognized for high standards of honor, integrity, leadership, and civic responsibility, reflecting the values of the patriots of the American Revolution.
Dr. Brumley was selected for the honor based on his record of achievement as an education administrator at both the district and state levels. Since becoming Louisiana State Superintendent of Education in 2020, he has overseen significant improvements in student outcomes, including notable gains in national education rankings and strong post-pandemic academic recovery in both reading and mathematics. His leadership has emphasized a “back to basics” approach, focusing on foundational literacy and numeracy skills, while supporting teachers and expanding educational opportunities for students across the state.
Prior to his state leadership role, Dr. Brumley served as superintendent in both DeSoto Parish and Jefferson Parish, where he was credited with improving school performance, increasing graduation rates, and implementing system-wide academic reforms.
A career educator, Dr. Brumley began as a classroom teacher and coach before advancing to school and district leadership. He holds a doctorate in education and has dedicated his career to strengthening public education and student achievement in Louisiana.
