Lake Providence – On Sunday, July 7, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police/CID/Detectives-Monroe Field Office (LSP MFO) were requested by the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office (ECPSO) to investigate a homicide that occurred near Charles D Jones Boulevard.
The investigation revealed that 19-year-old Earineca Brown had been shot and later died at an area hospital. A second victim, a 15-year-old juvenile, was treated and released for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Detectives identified the subject as a 16-year-old male who confessed to shooting toward a group of people at a “block party”. The juvenile subject was arrested and charged with LRS 14:30.1 second degree murder and LRS 14:30.1 attempted second degree murder. He is being held at the Jackson Parish Correctional Center/Juvenile Section without bond.
LSP MFO will serve as the lead investigating agency, with ECPSO assisting. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
