Lake Providence – On Sunday, July 7, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police/CID/Detectives-Monroe Field Office (LSP MFO) were requested by the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office (ECPSO) to investigate a homicide that occurred near Charles D Jones Boulevard.

The investigation revealed that 19-year-old Earineca Brown had been shot and later died at an area hospital. A second victim, a 15-year-old juvenile, was treated and released for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Detectives identified the subject as a 16-year-old male who confessed to shooting toward a group of people at a “block party”. The juvenile subject was arrested and charged with LRS 14:30.1 second degree murder and LRS 14:30.1 attempted second degree murder. He is being held at the Jackson Parish Correctional Center/Juvenile Section without bond.

LSP MFO will serve as the lead investigating agency, with ECPSO assisting. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available at this time.

Anyone with information and/or pictures and video is urged to share that information with LSP Detectives.
