Fifty miles of food, fun and shopping are happening this weekend during the 15th annual Main to Main Trade Days.
Set to take place Friday, November 7 through Saturday, November 8, Minden Downtown Development Director Pattie Odom said there are roughly 150 vendors this year that will stretch from Main Street in Springhill through to the southern Webster Parish line.
Odom says the 50-mile route runs from Main Street in Springhill down Highway 371 South through the main streets of Cullen, Sarepta, Cotton Valley, Couchwood to Dixie Inn onto Highway 80 on Shreveport Road through downtown Minden, then back south on Highway 371 to the Sibley Road Flea Market, south through Sibley and down to the Webster Parish line.
Setup begins early Friday morning at dawn.
“Main to Main Trade Days has become the premiere event of our parish, and we’re expecting thousands of visitors,” Odom said. “The weather is expected to be great, so come on out and have fun.”
Vendors will offer an array of treats and special gift items just in time for the holidays. With stores going “outside” and other vendors offering bake sale items and lots of goods, there is plenty to choose from.
Main Street has long been the center of activity in Minden, beginning with its first business opened by Charles Veeder. Established in 1835, Main Street has seen many changes. The Main Street Program began in 1987 with “a mission to preserve our history by promoting economic revitalization and rehabilitation of our historic buildings.”
Minden Main Street is recognized as a Louisiana Main Street Community, a Louisiana Cultural Products District and a site on the National Register of Historic Places.
