A man was arrested Saturday evening after reportedly forcing his way into two separate residences, claiming he was being chased by individuals trying to kill him.
Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Peach Street at approximately 6:57 PM on June 14 in reference to a subject forcing himself into a home. Upon arrival, officers observed the front door of the residence open and issued loud verbal commands for any occupants to exit.
A woman exited the residence and identified herself as the homeowner. She told officers that a man, later identified as Teadrien Burris, 27, had entered her home without permission, yelling that he was being chased. She stated that Burris left the residence before police arrived. The woman also reported seeing two men chasing Burris down the street but was unable to provide further description.
The homeowner provided a recorded statement and signed a complaint affidavit to pursue charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
Burris was later located and taken into custody in the 800 block of East Union Street, near Five Bro Burgers. After being advised of his Miranda Rights, Burris again claimed he had been chased by two individuals attempting to shoot him.
While in custody, officers received a second report from the 500 block of Talton Street where Burris allegedly entered another residence without permission. The second homeowner also requested to press charges for unauthorized entry.
Police said Burris appeared to be under the influence of a substance and may have been hallucinating during the break-ins.
Burris was arrested and faces two counts of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
