Man arrested after bicycle stop leads to foot chase and home entry

by Minden Press-Herald

A 45-year-old man was taken into custody after a traffic stop on a bicycle turned into a foot chase and unauthorized entry into a home Wednesday afternoon, according to a Minden police report.

At about 4:18 PM January 7, an officer patrolling Plateau Street reported seeing a man on a bicycle run a stop sign and then ride in circles in the roadway. When the officer attempted to make contact, the man fled, jumped off the bicycle and refused commands to stop.

Police said the man, identified as Marlon Sanders, 45, of Heflin, ran into a residence in the 500 block of Midland Street without authorization from the occupants, then exited through the rear of the home and continued to flee on foot before being apprehended.

Sanders was transported to the Minden Police Department for booking. Louisiana Probation and Parole placed a detainer on him, police said.

He was charged with traffic laws applying to bicycles, resisting an officer, unauthorized entry of a dwelling and a probation and parole hold.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
