Man arrested after drug-induced disturbance on Lee Street

by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was arrested in the early morning hours of June 14 following a disturbance involving drug use, a physical altercation, and multiple outstanding warrants.

Officers were dispatched around 2:47 AM to the 300 block of Lee Street in response to a 911 hang-up call. Dispatch later advised that an unwanted person was on the scene.

Upon arrival, officers reported hearing a disturbance from the third floor. Authorities made contact with two men in the hallway and identified one of them as Charles Howard, 39. He was nude from the waist down and appeared to be under the influence of a mind-altering substance, according to police records.

Police said Howard appeared to be in a verbal altercation with the other individual and ignored repeated verbal commands to get on the ground. He allegedly took a defensive posture and attempted to lunge at the second man before an officer deployed a Taser. Howard was taken to the ground but reportedly continued to struggle with officers before being handcuffed.

Emergency medical personnel were called to evaluate Howard, who was later transported to Minden Medical Center for treatment. After his release, he was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

Howard was arrested on existing warrants for one count of theft and nine counts of access device fraud. He also faces a new charge of resisting an officer.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
