Dejuan White, 29, was arrested for disturbing the peace through public intoxication, as well as violently attempting to resist arrest both when being put into the patrol unit and his holding cell.
Minden Police Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Sheppard Street, responding to calls about a disturbance. After arriving, the officers were directed to an apartment by witnesses at the scene. The booking report stated that officers observed White bleeding from his thumb. “Dejuan was extremely intoxicated and unable to recall why or how his thumb was injured,” the report also stated. White was offered medical treatment for his thumb, but he refused.
White was later taken into custody for disturbing the peace. While being taken to the officer’s patrol unit, White began to resist arrest. “While being escorted into my patrol unit, White kicked me in the chest and face,” the report stated.
More violent attempts to resist arrest ensued later when officers were attempting to put White into a holding cell. “While putting White into the holding cell. White continued to fight to the point that he broke a pair of handcuffs and a handcuff key while I was attempting to remove them. During the fight, White elbowed me in the face and ultimately had to be shackled to prevent him from fighting,” the report stated.
White was charged with resisting a police officer with force or violence, battery of a police officer, disturbing the peace through public intoxication, and simple criminal damage to property.
