SPRINGHILL – Springhill Police say a man was robbed of several hundred dollars, and a weeks-long investigation has led to the arrest of a Springhill man.

Johntavious Rabb, 20, of Payne Street in Springhill, was arrested by Springhill Police Thursday, Jan. 14, for aggravated battery, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and simple battery of persons with infirmities. Bond was set at $450,000.
Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd says the crime has been under investigation for quite a while, and on New Year’s Eve, the victim had gone to get some money from the ATM machine at his bank.

“While walking back to his residence, a group of young males, one carrying a gun, put a gun in his face and robbed him, beat him up and tore his clothes off of him,” he said. “The victim is an older gentleman and appears to have some mental issues.”

Lynd says the group took roughly $600 from the victim.

Rabb is still incarcerated at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center, and more arrests are pending in this case as the investigation continues, Lynd said.
