Minden Police arrested a man for attempted simple rape along with drug and weapons charges after a safety check of the residence revealed a gun, suspected marijuana and cocaine inside.

Terry Oliver Jr., 47, of the 600 block of South Street, was arrested around 10:45 p.m., Thursday, on additional charges of possession of schedule I controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, illegal carrying of weapons, possession of schedule II CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged as a fugitive from the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Police Chief Steve Cropper says details of the reported attempted rape are not being released at this time as the case is still under investigation, but he did say Oliver admitted the alleged rape victim was at his home.

“We took a complaint the night before in reference to Oliver being a suspect in an attempted rape,” he said. “Oliver admitted that the alleged rape victim had been by his house earlier that night to use the phone. That’s when the
alleged attempted rape took place.”

Police say they made contact with Oliver and conducted a safety check of the residence. During the check, officers located suspected marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside the home in different locations. Two loaded firearms were also reportedly discovered next to the suspected narcotics inside the home.

Oliver was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. A check revealed an active warrant by the sheriff’s office. He was then transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
