Marion Tucker Jones

Marion departed from life Dec. 8, 2015. She was born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana on October 17, 1927 to Lucius Tucker and Gladys Billiu Tucker and was a resident of Minden since 1968. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Tucker and by her beloved husband, Emmett. She is survived by her sister, Ms Nell Boersma of Baton Rouge, her son Emmett Jones, III, cherished daughter-in-law, Linda, both of Minden, grandsons Chris Jones and Stephen Sorrels, granddaughter Angela Verrett and two great grandchildren.

Marion was a graduate of Northwestern in Natchitoches and worked for 13 years as a social worker with the Louisiana Department of Public Welfare. She obtained a teaching certificate from the University of Houston and taught for several years in Texas. Upon returning to Louisiana, she taught at Northwest Louisiana Vocational-Technical School in Minden for 18 years until her retirement.

The family wishes to express their profound appreciation for the care, love and Christian witness of Dr. Carlos Irizarry and his wife, Dr. Kathryn Irizarry. In accordance with Marion’s wishes, there will be a private service for the family. Memorials may be made to: Seventh Day Adventist Church 108 Harvey’s Way, Minden, Louisiana 71055.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
