Grambling State University men’s basketball player Kintavious Dozier was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men’s Basketball Impact Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Dozier was impressive in Grambling State’s weekend victories over Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. The Lanett, Ala., native averaged 24.0 points per game and shot 61.5 percent from the field (16-of-26) in the wins.

In GSU’s 79-69 win over BCU, Dozier scored a game-high 25 points with two rebounds, two steals and two assists. In Grambling State’s 65-52 triumph over FAMU, he racked up 23 points with a pair of steals and an assist.

This is the second time this season that Dozier has earned weekly honors from the SWAC. Earlier this season, he was named the SWAC Player of the Week. He is currently GSU’s leading scorer, averaging 14.1 ppg. and shoots 49.1 percent from the field.

GSU fans can catch Dozier and the Grambling State men’s basketball team in action on Jan. 20 when the Tigers welcome Southern University to the Fredrick C. Hobdy Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on HBCUGo.
