Mildred “Doris” Martin passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of Feb. 20, 2017 at the age of 81.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, Feb. 23 between 5 and 7 p.m. at the United Pentecostal Church of Minden on Highway 531. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. at the United Pentecostal Church of Minden and led by Pastor Jeff Ramsey.

Mrs. Martin was born June 11, 1935 in Webster Parish. As a teenager she met the love of her life, Alvia “Bud” Martin and they would marry on Nov. 17, 1952. They would later have four children and raise them in Minden. Mrs. Martin worked at the shell plant for over 30 years.

She leaves behind her siblings, Geraldine Peevy and her husband, LC, Mary Francis Roberts, Hoyle Chanler and Doyle Chanler; children, Jackie M. Hickey, Darlene Martin, Dewayne Martin and his wife Pat, Sherri M. Taylor and her husband, Charlie and Bridget King; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Issac Frank Chanler and Lillie Valley Kellogg Chanler; five siblings and great-grandchildren, Alexander Dewayne Martin and Stephen Tyler Downs.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Taylor, Clint White, Shane Miller, Brad Peevy, Kim Roberts and Gerald Melton.
Special pallbearer will be Tristan Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be LC Peevy, Hoyle Chanler, Doyle Chanler and Johnny Melton.

A very special thanks to Pastor Jeff Ramsey of the United Pentecostal Church in Minden for all of your prayers and support and to Regional Hospice and their wonderful staff. The care and heartfelt compassion shown by Lee Jones, Celeste
Lee, BJ Pipe and Barbara Calloway throughout this process will always be remembered.

She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by friends and family.

We will see you again…
