Minden Ace Hardware partners with Webster Parish Council on Aging to provide fans for elderly

by Amber McDown

Minden Ace Hardware partnered with the Webster Parish Council on Aging to help the elderly cope with the summer heat. From May 4 to May 18, the hardware store donated a fan for each 20-inch box fan purchased.

The fan drive aimed to address the urgent need for cooling appliances during the scorching summer months, particularly for individuals and families facing financial hardships. The drive collected 20 additional fans for the Council on Aging, increasing their total to 42 fans available for distribution.

“It went well,” said Johnny Johnson, executive director of the Council on Aging. “We’ll use these this summer — every one of them we’ll give away.”

The Council on Aging expressed appreciation for Ace Hardware and everyone who donated. They accept fan donations throughout the year.

The Webster Parish Council on Aging, located at 1482 Sheppard Street in Minden, offers a variety of engaging activities and essential services for seniors. For more information, please contact them at (318) 371-3056.
