The Minden City Council will hold two public meetings on Monday, August 4, beginning with a workshop at 5:00 PM in the Pelican Conference Room at Minden City Hall, 520 Broadway Street.
During the workshop, council members are expected to review the upcoming regular meeting agenda. Presentations will be made by Mayor Nicholas Cox on general city matters, Police Chief Jared McIver regarding the June 2025 police report, Fire Chief Brian Williams with the July 2025 fire report, and City Clerk Melaney Langford with the June 2025 budget report.
The council’s regular session will follow at 6:00 PM in the City Hall Council Chambers. The meeting will begin with a public hearing on the proposed 2025–2026 City of Minden budget.
Following the hearing, the council will consider routine business, including adoption of minutes from six previous meetings, a resolution to adopt the 2025–2026 budget, a resolution regarding city bank accounts, and a resolution to reschedule the September 2025 regular session.
Also on the agenda is the consideration of a recommendation from Police Chief McIver to terminate Lieutenant Christopher Hammontree following an internal investigation into his conduct on or about May 23, 2025. The council may enter executive session to discuss the matter, as permitted under Louisiana Open Meetings Law.
The meeting will also include the presentation of proclamations to Minden’s 8U, 10U, and 12U All-Star teams, as well as standard reports from the police, fire, and finance departments.
Meetings are open to the public and are livestreamed on the City of Minden’s Facebook page and YouTube channel under the name “City of Minden.”
