The City of Minden, Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce, and Webster Parish Tourism joined forces for a community cleanup event on Thursday, April 25, as part of Love the Boot Week. This collaborative effort, in partnership with the Keep Louisiana Beautiful program, aimed to enhance the city’s appeal and foster a cleaner, more inviting environment.
Volunteer teams dispersed across Minden to tackle litter cleanup and beautification projects, including planting flowers. The event culminated in a celebratory gathering at Miller Quarters Park, where participants were recognized for their contributions.
Awards were presented in three categories: Most Litter Collected, Most Spirited, and Largest Team. The City of Minden received the Largest Team award, Gibsland Bank & Trust was honored with Most Spirited, and Coca-Cola earned the Most Litter Collected distinction.
This marked Minden’s inaugural participation in the state-wide cleanup initiative in a collaborative capacity. Plans are already underway to expand the event next year with additional categories. Serena Gray, executive director of Webster Parish Tourism, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, stating, “We would love to continue to do this. We couldn’t have made it this successful without the help of our community partners.”
The cleanup event not only showcased the community’s dedication to environmental stewardship but also highlighted the spirit of unity and pride that defines Minden.
