Minden High soccer season underway

by Minden Press-Herald

Minden High’s boys and girls soccer teams started their season with games against North DeSoto, Northwood and Calvary.

The Crimson Tiders were shutout in a pair of losses to North DeSoto in their first matches of the season, but turned it on to play better after shaking off those first game jitters.

In a pair of games with Northwood, both teams got their first win.

The boys won 5-4 behind Sjors Geurts 2 goals. Also with goals were Brandon Fairchild, Pedro Hernandez and Breylan Kemp. Trevor Chandler recorded 7 saves in goal. The Girls overcame a 2-goal deficit to defeat the Lady Falcons 4-3. Emily Frye scored all 4 goals for Minden.

The next night, fatigue was a factor in the Tide’s third set of games, versus Calvary.

The Lady Tiders lost 5-0, while the Crimson Tide fought to a 5-5 tie.

Sjors Geurts scored 4 goals in that contest.
