A 23-year-old Minden man was arrested on felony firearm charges after allegedly brandishing a handgun during a disturbance at a residence Saturday night.
Kayus Grant Chandler Gros, 23, was arrested October 24 after Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of Shane Drive at approximately 11:18 PM.
According to the arrest report, Gros was reportedly intoxicated and had been damaging property before deputies arrived.
A witness told investigators that Gros had armed himself with a Glock handgun and chambered a 9mm round while the weapon was still holstered.
The witness reportedly feared Gros intended to hurt someone inside the residence but was able to convince him to put the firearm down.
Deputies secured the handgun, which belonged to another individual, upon arriving at the residence. The weapon was reportedly loaded with a round in the chamber.
Gros was advised of his Miranda rights, and he declined to provide a statement.
A criminal history check revealed that Gros had previously been convicted of possession of a Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance, making him ineligible to possess a firearm under state law.
Gros was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center for booking.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
