Minden man arrested after domestic incident on Wiggins Lane

by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was arrested October 27 after deputies said he placed his mother in a chokehold during a domestic dispute on Wiggins Lane.

According to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home in the 100 block of Wiggins Lane around 3:45 PM after a caller, identified as 19-year-old Cayden Lane Ray, reported that he and his mother had been involved in a physical altercation.

When deputies arrived, Ray admitted he had put his mother in a chokehold. Deputies observed redness around the mother’s neck. She told deputies Ray had been trying to provoke her to fight, but she refused.

In a written statement, Ray said he had pulled out his phone to record his mother in an attempt to provoke her into hitting him. When she tried to grab the phone, it fell to the ground. Ray told deputies his mother then grabbed his puppy, and he believed she was hurting it, prompting him to put her in a chokehold.

Ray was arrested and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center without incident. He was charged with domestic abuse battery with strangulation.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
