A Minden man was arrested Monday, April 27, after officers responding to an unwanted person complaint on Elm Street allegedly found methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana concealed in his socks, according to a Minden Police Department report.
Police were dispatched at approximately 1:28 PM to the 1300 block of Elm Street in reference to an unwanted person. Before officers arrived, dispatch advised that the individual had left the original residence and was then standing in the front yard of another home in the same block.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with Chasion Chism, 35.
According to the report, Chism initially told officers he lived at the residence where he was standing, then stated his aunt lived there. As officers attempted to verify that information with the original complainant, police said Chism changed his story and claimed he was on the wrong street and that his aunt lived on an adjacent street.
Officers reported that Chism appeared perplexed and disoriented during the encounter.
Police advised Chism they were going to pat him down for weapons. During the pat-down, Chism reportedly gave officers consent to search his person. Officers initially located rolling papers in his pocket, but no narcotics were immediately found.
While one officer returned to a patrol unit to check for outstanding warrants because of Chism’s prior criminal history, backup officers detained him. After being advised of his rights, police said Chism admitted he had synthetic marijuana hidden in his sock.
A further search reportedly uncovered approximately 0.29 grams of methamphetamine and 0.79 grams of synthetic marijuana in Chism’s socks.
Chism was taken into custody and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking.
He was charged with possession of Schedule II methamphetamine, possession of Schedule I synthetic marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
