Minden man arrested on multiple warrants and drug charges

by Minden Press-Herald

A 65-year-old Minden man was taken into custody on January 4 after being stopped for a traffic violation and found to have multiple active warrants and illegal contraband.

According to the police report, an officer on patrol observed Terry Jones fail to signal a left-hand turn while turning onto Martin Luther King Drive. Recognizing Jones from previous arrests and aware of five active warrants through the agency, the officer initiated a traffic stop.

During the stop, the officer informed Jones of the active warrants, which Jones acknowledged. Jones was asked to exit his vehicle, and a search revealed one crack rock, a pipe commonly used for smoking crack cocaine, and filters for the pipe in his pocket.

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded no additional contraband. Dispatch confirmed that Jones also had two active fugitive warrants with the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Jones was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking. He will be transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

Beyond the outstanding warrants, Jones was charged with possession of a Schedule II (crack cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to signal, and general speed.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
