by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden man was charged with domestic abuse with strangulation and false imprisonment following a violent altercation with his girlfriend in the early hours of August 30.

Police responded to the 700 block of Peach Street at approximately 1:26 AM after receiving a report of a stabbing incident. Upon arrival, officers observed the male subject, identified as 27-year-old Aaron Taylor, being transported to Minden Medical Center by a privately owned vehicle. His girlfriend was found sitting on the porch of the residence.

According to the police report, the girlfriend explained that the incident began when Taylor refused to allow her to exit their bedroom and allegedly began to batter and strangle her. She managed to escape the room, but Taylor pursued her and continued the physical assault throughout the residence. The girlfriend attempted to call 911, but Taylor allegedly grabbed her phone and threw it aside.

In her attempt to defend herself, she fled to the kitchen, where she armed herself with a knife. During the ensuing struggle, Taylor reportedly tried to disarm her, resulting in a laceration to his hand when he grabbed the blade. Officers noted that the girlfriend appeared disheveled, with torn clothing and visible red marks around her neck and on her back.

After receiving treatment for his injury at Minden Medical Center, Taylor was taken into custody and transported to the Minden Police Department where he was booked on charges of domestic abuse with strangulation and false imprisonment.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
