Minden police arrest man for using counterfeit bill

by Minden Press-Herald

A Minden police officer was dispatched to the area of Circle K in reference to a man attempting to use a counterfeit $100 bill. Upon arrival near Shreveport Road and Roosevelt Drive, the officer located a man matching the description provided.

The officer made contact with the man, identified as Lejerick Bryant, 34. Upon arrival of a second officer, Bryant’s information was run for warrants and identification verification. The second officer made contact with the Circle K clerk, who provided the counterfeit $100 bill, which was clearly marked as fake.

The clerk informed the officer that Bryant had attempted to purchase multiple items with the counterfeit bill. After being advised of his rights per Miranda, Bryant claimed he found the bill in the Circle K parking lot and did not know it was fake. He initially said the bill was balled up, then later stated it was flat and face-up.

Bryant was transported to the Minden Police Department, booked, and placed in a holding cell before being transferred to BDCC. He has been charged with monetary instrument abuse, a felony.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
