The Minden Crimson Tide earned their second victory of the week with a 16-2 blowout win over the Fair Park Indians.
After allowing Fair Park to score one run in the top of the first, Minden answered in a big way, scoring 10 runs and batting around in the bottom half. The Tide added one run in the second and five more in the third to end the game in four innings via 15-run rule. Minden collected 12 hits off Fair Park’s pitching staff.
Matt Eskew, normally behind the plate for the Tide, got a view from the other side in getting the start on the mound. Eskew tossed two innings, struck out four batters and did not give up a hit. Senior Cade Coleman tossed the final two innings, striking out four batters and giving up no hits either to team with Eskew on an unlikely, combined no-hitter.
Gunner Stephens led the Tide going 2-3 with two tripleds and four RBIs. Trace Francis and Gavin Smith each singled and doubled with two RBIs, followed by Eskew who doubled, singled and added one RBI. Peyton Gray had a two-RBI single, followed by Justin McCready and Aubrey Dennis with RBI singles. Brian McLaughlin added a single to round out the Tide offense.
Minden’s next game will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. when the Airline Vikings come to Griffith Stadium for a non-district showdown.
