A 17-year-old Minden resident was arrested September 16 after allegedly stealing DJ equipment and causing property damage at a home on Marion Street, according to Minden police.
Officers responded to the scene after receiving a report of felony theft and criminal property damage. The victim told police that his sister, identified as Myka White, took DJ equipment, three pairs of hair clippers and broke a mirror. He also reported that a security camera in his bedroom was destroyed and the data cable cut.
When questioned, White told officers she believed her brother had stolen her cell phone and refused to return it. Police said White admitted through text messages that she damaged the equipment, writing, “I’m breaking every DJ thing you don’t get my phone! And yk I will.”
White also allegedly kicked in the studio door and tore a DJ equipment cabinet from the wall, damaging it in the process. The value of stolen property was estimated at $1,700.
She was taken into custody without incident and booked on charges of felony theft and simple criminal damage to property. Because of her age, White was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center for booking before being released to her mother.
Since 2024, all 17-year-olds are considered adults within the criminal justice system. This means they can be placed in adult facilities and face adult court proceedings, even for lesser offenses
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
