For the second consecutive night, the Minden Crimson Tide and Minden Lady Tider soccer teams were in action under the lights in The Pit.
This time, the Tide played host to district opponent Bastrop. In what turned out to be two very physical games, the Tide and Lady Tiders proved their toughness by winning both games.
Boys
The Crimson Tide were victorious in a fast-paced affair with Bastrop’s boys, 3-1.
Minden got a beautiful performance from Pedro Hernandez who finished with two goals. His second came in the final minutes and sealed the deal. The other Crimson Tide goal came courtesy of Benton Lewis.
Girls
The Lady Tiders pitched a shutout on their way to a win over the Lady Rams, 3-0.
Minden led 1-0 at the half, thanks to an Emily Frye goal that came a few minutes before the whistle.
Frye added her second goal of the game in the second half, playing keep away on a great run down the left side of the pitch and finding the back of the net following a rebound off the goalie.
Frye then assisted on Ashton Smith’s third goal of the season, as Smith got wide open in front of the net to finish off the Lady Rams.
The Tide and Lady Tiders will be back in action Monday, Jan. 18 when they take on Loyola in The Pit.
