Miss Minden 2015 Baylee Howell has spent the week in Monroe preparing for the Miss Louisiana pageant and says so far it’s been a great experience.
“It’s been a dream of mine to participate in the Miss Louisiana pageant,” Howell said following competition Thursday night. “Getting to represent Minden has made it even better. It has definitely been an exciting week for me. It hasn’t all been easy, but definitely worth it. It is an experience I will never forget.”
She competed in the talent and on stage portion of the preliminaries Thursday. She competed during the interview portion Tuesday. Friday, she will compete in the evening gown and swimsuit competition.
She has spent the week with 35 other young women vying for the state title and a chance to compete in the Miss America pageant.
She is also the recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, an award given to those youth who complete a series of self-improvement exercises in volunteering, physical fitness, skills and expedition.
The top 10 will be chosen Friday before the televised pageant Saturday, June 27. Howell will learn whether she makes the top 10 following the completion of preliminaries Friday.
