Compton, MonetteCelebration of life service for Mrs. Monette Compton, 74, were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, in the sanctuary of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport, with Pastor Chad Hardbarger and Brother Harry Forrester officiating.

The family welcomed guests for visitation from 1 p.m. until time of service at Emmanuel on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014.

Monette was born March 21, 1940 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Frank Monette Craig and Mabel Clare Rundell Long and was called home Dec. 12, 2014, in Shreveport. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Monette will always be remembered as a kind, fun-loving people person that never met a stranger. She enjoyed playing the piano and entertaining others.

Monette was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Compton and her father, Frank Craig.

Left to cherish the beautiful memories, Monette leaves behind her mother, Mabel Long; three children, Craig Russell and wife, Christina, Dr. Robert Russell and wife, Laurie and Chris Russell and wife, Lisa; six grandchildren, Britni Russell, Brandon Russell, Elizabeth Russell, Ethan Russell, Maia Russell and Ryan Russell; along with numerous extended family members and many valued friends.

The family would like to extend their warmest gratitude to the staff of The Bradford, Bro. Chad, Bro. Harry and all of the wonderful friends that took time out to visit.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Monette Compton to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 5850 Buncombe Rd, Shreveport, LA, 71129.
