NATCHITOCHES— Police say the principal of a Natchitoches Parish public alternative school is facing several charges after he allegedly abused an 11-year-old boy last week.
The Town Talk reports 41-year-old Bobby Joe Benjamin Jr. was booked Monday with cruelty to juveniles, aggravated battery, simple battery and second-degree battery.
Natchitoches police say Benjamin, principal at the Frankie Ray Jackson Technical Center, was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center but later was released on a $9,500 property bond.
Police say an investigation began on March 16 after a mother reported that her son “came home in tears, stating that he had been struck multiple times by his school’s principal.”
Jail officials couldn’t provide the name of a defense attorney to comment on the charges.
