A Minden man is accused of hitting his mother with a can of sloppy joe sauce, prompting Webster Parish authorities to arrest him.

Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputy Joe Morgan arrested John Clayton Hicks, 45, of the 200 block of Rice Road, Tuesday, May 10, around 8:20 p.m., when his mother filed a complaint against him. According to reports, Hicks’ mother went to his travel trailer to wake him up, and when she did, he reportedly began yelling and cursing at her.

She left the travel trailer, located in her front yard, to walk back to her home, and while opening the door, she felt something hit her back, deputies said. When she turned around to look, she told deputies she saw that he’d thrown a can of sloppy joe sauce, and that was the object that hit her in the back, according to reports.

Morgan made contact with Hicks and placed him under arrest. He was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center and booked for aggravated battery, but he reportedly refused to give any information or sign any forms.

Bond has not been set at this time.
