North Webster Narcotics Task Force agents picked up a Springhill man on methamphetamine charges after warrants were issued for his arrest.
Curtis Dale Young Jr., 56, of the 800 block of 3rd Street SE, was arrested Oct. 20 on two counts of distribution of methamphetamine. Bond was set at $200,000.
Agents say Young, aka “Buddy,” was seen standing in the ditch on 3rd Street attempting to unlock a gate. Springhill detective Ronald Wedgeworth and Webster Parish Sheriff’s narcotics agent Lt. Shawn Baker made contact with Young and placed him under arrest.
“He’s a multiple offender, and he’s been in trouble with it before,” Baker said.
Springhill police chief Will Lynd says Young has a lengthy criminal record, all of them methamphetamine related.
“Buddy works every day, he cuts trees every day and does yard work,” he said. “Buddy is a user/small time dealer to support his habit. He gets out and goes back and does it over and over and over. He’s a habitual offender. Buddy is well known to be in the methamphetamine trade.”
He was transported to the Springhill Police Department and booked. He was then transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
